Guild Etiquette

Being in Spark is about having fun in the World of Warcraft realms, playing with others who are like-minded. It’s about advancing your character(s) while at the same time helping others advance theirs. Below is a quick guide for some of the common issues that arise in guild play and some suggestions to ensure everyone gets treated fairly.

We all like to communicate but if you are going to be having a long or personal conversation don’t block the general guild chat – form a channel and discuss there. And no spam please. Please also note we are an English speaking guild.

Spark is now well known on Runetotem and we have a reputation for being good players who are mature and responsible. This reputation has been hard to achieve and we are fiercely proud of it. Therefore please ensure your actions at all times promote this. The guild will take a very dim view of any individual who damages or threatens to damage this reputation which has been built by so many over a long period if time. Please be yourself, but remember at all times you are an ambassador of Spark.

Participation

Know what’s going on, check out our website regularly http://spark.guild.nu/ (please add to your favorites if you haven't already) there’s new posts daily and here you can learn what we have planned. At Spark we want your opinions so please share them, please post on the forums and let us know what you think – it’s your guild too! We can’t improve without feedback so please talk to us.

If you want to speak to an officer, either PM through the website or whisper in game play. Your officers are Magrathea, Tera, Tria, Milanna & Egwene, and any requests, opinions or comments will be considered and replied to. As Egwene has the role of guild manager please contact him first and the matter will then be handed to the most suitable officer to deal with.

As a PvE raiding guild we host raids every night and weekend daytime too. Currently we have high demand for most high level instances so we have so a booking system is in place through the Members Forum - see Guild Events. If you want to take part you will need to book a place, the earlier the better.

Events

At each event there is a group leader (and normally master looter – see website for full details on event looting). They will detail the event to those present, please pay attention to this as having to repeat it all again can be time consuming and holds up play for everyone. Saying that, if there is something that is unclear please ask. Please be on time for events as waiting for others just slows things down. Raids are bookable in adavnce- if you don't book you are unlikely to get a place.

Guild Assistance

Q. Can anyone help me do this quest…?
You will find no shortage of assistance in Spark to help you complete quests, but a few things are worth bearing in mind.
:: Other members may be in the middle of doing something for themselves or helping another and unable to help you at that time. Players will help you, although it might not be immediately. Asking if anyone can help with a quest or an instance “in the next hour” will always get a better result. If all else fails post a request for help on the website and suggest a time when you’ll be online and if members can help they will.
:: This is a two-way thing, remember when other members are looking for help it’s good to give as well as receive.

Q. I need this particular item, can anyone help me?
Various quests require that you collect materials; you’ll also need materials for crafting skills. Some are easier to get than others.
:: You can ask fellow guild members and if they have the item(s) you’re looking for they may be able to help out. But please remember other members have their own quests and professions to work on as well.
:: Most of the raw materials you need can be found in the Auction House, sometimes that’s just the fastest way.
:: For rare items can members please remember to check the Vault pages, items there can be requested through the relevant forum.

Q. I need gold - please send me some!
In World Of Warcraft a need for gold is a constant challenge to all players. Even at the highest levels when all spells are bought and the mount is purchased, gear upgrades become frighteningly expensive as do the materials required for high end trade skills. Asking for gold on guild chat is seen as begging and is not permitted. Private arrangements between players are down to the players invovled and the guild will take no part in trying to resolve any dispute should it arise. The standard practice to get gold is to 'grind' where the player chooses an area and kills mobs for the sole purpose of bulding up resources. You are welcome to ask for help from other guild members when doing this - but remember it is most profitable to grind alone as you don't have to share!

Getting help from guild members is standard practice, it’s one of the reasons Spark exists in the first place. But doing things on your own or in smaller parties brings greater character rewards:
:: More XP
:: Faster levelling.
:: More cash for you if it’s split fewer ways
:: Increased loot
:: Personal satisfaction at having achieved something hard

Guild loot give-aways

We regularly have members with loot to give away which is made available over guild chat. This should be handled on a need before greed basis. A few examples of each are:

Need
:: I can use the item now.
:: I will equip the item now as it offers immediate character improvement.
:: This item is better than what I currently have.

Greed
:: I can use the item in 5 levels time.
:: I might use it later.
:: I can sell for profit to help me get my Elite mount.
:: The item is similar to what I currently have, but offers me variety.
:: As an enchanter I need things to disenchant.

Some things to bear in mind: If you’ve just got an item or some guild distributed loot it shows an element of fair play to make sure others get their share too. For example only, just because you’re a mage doesn’t mean you should ask for all the cloth armour, there are other mages in the guild too.
Does someone else have greater need than you on an item? For example an item giving +20 Int is of far more use to a mage than a warrior, so if both want the item let the mage have it we’ll have other items in the near future and some of them will be of greater benefit to a warrior.

Grievance

At Spark we do our best to keep everyone happy, but despite our best intentions we won't manage this all the time. If you feel something is wrong please let us know as quickly as possible. However there is a correct way to do this. If your dispute is with another guild member, speak to them first and do it privately NOT in guild chat. Be reasonable and explain what your grievance is and and why you feel that way. In most cases disputes are down to misunderstanding, and discussing any situation provides a reasonable solution. Under no circumstances will guild chat flaming be acceptable. Treat your fellow guild members with respect at all times. If no solution can be worked out privately then by all means ask for an officer's assistance - again this should be done privately. The officer will speak (privately) to all involved and will try to suggest a solution acceptable to all.

If the dispute is about the guild in general or our policies please contact an officer privately and we will endeavour to address your concern. If no officers are online at the time please send a private message to an officer via this website or place a request in the members general forum for an officer to contact you. Either of these methods will guarantee a response when an officer is next available.

And finally...

Spark will only succeed with your help and participation. Treat your fellow guild members with respect and in same manner you wish to be treated yourself. And above all else – have fun.

Welcome to Spark – we’re pleased you’re here. Now where's this Lich King we keep hearing about?
